IP Camera Vendors

IP Camera Vendors

Internet Protocol cameras, also called network or IP cameras, transmit digital video surveillance footage over a wired Ethernet connection. They can be paired with network video recorders to create an enterprise-level security system.

There are very few manufacturers of US-made ip cameras. Most of the big names sub-contract their production to one of “The Big Two” Chinese manufacturers.

Hikvision

Hikvision offers a wide range of products, from IP PTZ cameras to network video recorders. These products are designed to meet the needs of various applications, such as retail shops, hotels and industries. They also offer a variety of high-quality features, including low light sensitivity, remote zoom and autofocus.

The company began as a state entity and maintains close ties to China’s Communist leaders. Its parent company, the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, straddles the military and civilian sectors, producing everything from lasers to washing machines. Those connections have helped Hikvision expand globally, but they’re also a ip camera vendors risk factor. The company’s surveillance gear was used in Xinjiang to oppress Muslim communities, and it’s facing growing backlash.

In a post on Github, security researcher Watchful_IP found that the majority of Hikvision’s recent camera product ranges are vulnerable to a critical unauthenticated remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability. The vulnerabilities are caused by a flaw in the cameras’ http(s) server ports, which are exposed to internet-facing networks without any authentication checks. Hikvision has updated the firmware for some devices, but not all of its regional software portals are patched against this threat.

Hikvision has one of the largest marketing networks in the world, with 72 subsidiaries and branch offices worldwide to ensure local support for customers and partners. The company specializes in IP and HD-TVI technologies, and its CCTV offerings include a range of IP PTZ cameras, ANPR cameras, thermal bullet cameras and more.

Digital Watchdog

Digital Watchdog (DW) offers complete surveillance solutions with stunning image quality, advanced hardware capabilities and superior video management software with the lowest total cost of deployment for IP megapixels, HD over Coax and legacy analog systems. The DW Spectrum software is an intuitive, user-friendly and robust platform for centralized monitoring and management of any size system. Its high-performance architecture allows unlimited scalability, unparalleled bandwidth savings and simplified system setup and management. DW Spectrum is easy to use and requires minimal training for users and installers.

DW’s MEGApix IP cameras deliver unsurpassed crystal-clear megapixel image quality and advanced features. They are simple to install and operate with a web-based user interface. All MEGApix cameras are ONVIF compliant and have simultaneous dual stream capability, delivering two different video streams at different qualities and resolutions over the same network connection.

DW’s VMAX IP Plus NVRs streamline installation, enabling you to go from power-up to monitoring in minutes. Featuring CCIP camera encryption and diagnostics for internal systems, they are an ideal choice for small to medium-sized businesses that need reliable, powerful storage and security capabilities.

Hanwha Vision (Techwin)

Hanwha Vision (Techwin) offers a broad range of video surveillance cameras, storage devices and management software founded on world-class optical design, manufacturing and image processing technologies. Their cameras and solutions can be found around the world protecting streets, airports, ports and industrial facilities as well as military installations.

Hanwha’s latest NDAA-compliant AI PTZ camera combines business intelligence with advanced capabilities to support operators by detecting people, vehicles and licence plates, reducing false alarms, increasing efficiency and providing valuable insights for better decision making. Other business intelligence features include face detection, object removal and tamper alarms.

Enhanced video analytics based on deep learning technology improve small object ip camera vendors detection, continuous tracking and performance of auto-focus functions. Other capabilities include an intelligent IR mode for better low-light performance, a smart corner mount that prevents ligature and theft, and a powerful WiseDetector that detects specific user-defined objects filtered by color.

Hanwha’s integrated security system was recently deployed at the Army and Navy Academy, a college preparatory military boarding school in California. The two-fold surveillance upgrade included replacing the school’s outdated analog cameras and deploying a new video management system to provide greater surveillance coverage of the campus. The school’s resulting solution comprises Hanwha security cameras and the Wisenet WAVE video management system.

Avigilon

The Avigilon Unity Video security solution is powerful, intelligent and unified. This end-to-end platform integrates access control, decision management and cloud services to help solve today’s physical security challenges.

Avigilon offers a full line of IP megapixel cameras that can be accessed through the internet. These cameras can be configured to operate in “steady state” mode where they only upload encrypted thumbnails to the cloud every 20 seconds, rather than streaming live video all the time. This reduces internet bandwidth needs for large installations.

These cameras can also be equipped with advanced software to provide a variety of security features. One such feature is Focus of Attention (FoA), which allows the system to automatically highlight key events in a video feed and alert personnel to the important information they need to see. Another feature is License Plate Recognition (LPR), which can be used to detect and verify vehicle license digits to prevent traffic violations, parking garage and toll road theft, and terrorist activities at airports.

The company’s Avigilon Control Center (ACC) client-server software can be installed on a server that is connected to a network of cameras and other security devices. ACC manages the storage and transmission of video data and provides access to users on PCs or mobile devices. ACC can also be integrated with other security systems like fire alarms, door and window sensors, and audio devices.
