Waterproof Bulkhead Connector
Bulkhead connectors are used to connect cables to devices in a variety of applications. They are often found in outdoor networking applications and provide protection against moisture and other environmental factors. They can also be used in transportation systems to connect Ethernet equipment.
Painless Performance offers bulkhead connectors in a wide range of colors and gauge sizes to accommodate different wiring requirements. These products are ideal for custom through panel applications.
The design of bulkhead connectors
Bulkhead connectors are used to pass a wire or cable through a panel without the need for screws. They are available in various sizes and configurations and are suitable for a variety of applications. These connectors have a male connection on one end and a female connection on the other.
They are designed to penetrate through barriers and panels, such as a car firewall, to facilitate an electrical connection on both sides. They are also useful in a wide range of applications that require a hermetic seal. Bulkhead hermetic waterproof bulkhead connector wire feedthroughs are perfect for simplifying wiring arrangements by consolidating multiple connections into a single point. They also help to reduce clutter and provide a safer environment for working on vehicles.
This SV Microwave series of SMA and 2.92mm bulkhead connectors includes a gasket to improve electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. This protects the connection from electromagnetic radiation and ensures a strong, reliable signal. The bulkheads are also waterproof and meet the IP68 standard.
These waterproof bulkhead connectors are made from 316 stainless steel and feature PEEK inserts. They are suitable for long-term use in harsh marine environments and can withstand extreme conditions such as freezing temperatures, vibration, shocks, and vibration. The connectors are easy to install and come in a variety of colors. They can be used in a variety of applications, including power, control, lighting, and sensors.
The term bulkhead mount
Bulkhead mount refers to the method of attaching a connector to a product casing, enclosure, or panel from the front or rear. This typically involves a threaded body or a push-pull device and allows the connector to be mated and unmated with ease. Bulkhead mounts are used in many applications, from telecommunications to wireless networking to test and measurement equipment.
Often, the term “bulkhead” is used interchangeably with panel mount to describe a connector design feature. However, the features differ in a few key ways:
Panel mount is a mechanical feature built into a connector half that allows it to be secured to an external case or panel. This is in contrast to board mount, which are additional screws/bolts/nuts that are fitted to a connector and help reduce stress on the solder connections within the PCB.
The bulkhead mount design helps protect the connector from water ingress and dust. It also offers electrical insulation between the internal conductors and the outer shell of the connector. This provides a higher level of performance than conventional feedthrough connectors.
A bulkhead mount is a great solution for connecting brake and differential breather lines to chassis tubes or suspension links. The forged and anodized aluminum brackets can be fitted around 1.75″ tubes, and feature holes for a #3 bulkhead fitting and a #8 breather line. They are natural grey hard anodize coated and include a heat shrunk hose clamp.
The term bulkhead feedthrough
When engineers need to route power and data wires into pressure or vacuum chambers, they often reach for off-the-shelf sealed bulkhead connectors. These may seem like the best or only way to traverse chamber walls, but they can unnecessarily constrain designs, raise costs and trigger electrical problems. Instead, sheathed epoxy wire feedthroughs can be a much better choice.
A sheathed epoxy feedthrough allows engineers to pass conductors in a wire harness through walls of pressure or vacuum with no loss of energy, resistance or outgassing. These hermetic feedthroughs can also replace a traditional bulkhead, saving space and reducing bill of materials (BOM) items. In addition, sheathed epoxy feedthroughs can be up to 50% less expensive than standard connectors, assuming that the bulkhead connector does not meet all the application requirements.
Continuous wire feedthroughs are also used in marine applications to connect Ethernet devices on boats, ships and offshore installations. They provide protection from saltwater, temperature extremes and vibration. They are also used in transportation systems to connect Ethernet devices on trains, buses and airplanes.
For example, TE offers an ISO-KF NW 50 bulkhead mount that fits through any flat plate up to 1″ thick. This fitting is a quick and cost-effective way to add an Ethernet port to the back of a panel. It can be mounted from the front or back of the panel and is a great option for custom wiring applications.
The term waterproof
Waterproof bulkhead connectors are used in a wide range of applications. These include outdoor networking waterproof connector manufacturer systems, marine electronics, and transportation systems. They provide protection from moisture, dust, and other environmental factors that can damage network equipment.
RJ45 Waterproof IP67 Bulkhead Connector with Ethernet and 2.1MM Jumper Cable
This thru enclosure bulkhead mount features an RJ45 receptacle that allows for both an 9.84 inch Ethernet cable and a 2.1MM x 5.5MM power connector. It is perfect for powering non-PoE devices as if they were PoE, or for mounting network equipment in an external enclosure.
It has a wall hugging low profile to keep cables secured close to the surface and prevent them from touching personnel or other equipment/cables. It is available in three models to fit a wide range of cable diameters.
